PROLOGUE

firefighter
"Mayday ...Mayday...Mayday..."

"Unit calling Mayday. Go ahead."

"This is Officer Dave. We are on the third floor and running out of air supply. Fire has cut off our escape route. We request a ladder to the window on Delta side of the building. Over."

"Command copied Officer Dave, your escape route cut off by fire. I'm sending the Rapid Intervention Crew to Delta side with a ladder. Over."

The smoke and fire blurred his vision yet he managed to find her body lying down  on the wooden floor. He hold her tight "Hold on.. They'll help us in a moment." He embraced her,  trying to protect her from the scorching fire. "We'll make it, Lila. I promise you."

The Rapid Intervention Crew arrived shortly with a ladder on the delta side of the building. The firefighter pulled her arms, trying  to get her to the window as soon as possible. Yet, his chest felt tight. Coughs between his breaths.

He finally broke down, poisonous gas  in his lungs. He knelt  down like the time  he proposed to her, the only woman he ever loved. The firefighter woman took off her  oxygen mask and  put it  on on his nose. Tears dripped at the corner of her eyes. It wasn't because of the heat nor the smoke filling her lungs. Stuttered words came out of her  trembling lips.....

"yes, I will not leave you, my love.... you and I ...we'll make it, we'll survive and we'll see our children."

  2. Aww thank you, Jennifer! You're too nice.

Actually this was the same prologue in their first story :) I have a reason why I wrote the prologue in third person and past tense but continued their story in first person and in both POVs. I will keep the formula for the rest of the parts. :) Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting.
